INFLUENCE OF PROCESS SOLUTION ON PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ZEOLITE TYPE 4A

Abstract:
Factory Alumina Alumina doo Zvornik, has unique technology for producing synthetic zeolites from process aluminate solution obtained directly by leaching of bauxite. Unlike synthetic aluminate solution, obtained directly by dissolving aluminum hydroxide in the caustic soda, the process solutions, from the different phases of the process, vary in the content of impurities which are a consequence of the dissolution of different types of bauxite, making it "dirtier" in relation to the synthetic solutions. The zeolite was synthesized in a laboratory reactor at a temperature of 85ºC and the crystallization time was 5 h. Speed of mixers during the crystallization was 250 °/min. For this examination, as the carier of aluminum, it has been used synthetic aluminate, prepared by dissolving aluminum hydroxide in sodium hydroxide solution and process aluminate solutions, from various stages of the process, which differ in content of impurities. The quality of the obtained zeolite powder was tested using modern analytical methods (X-ray Diffraction-XRD, the particle size distribution-PSD, low temperature nitrogen adsorption-BET, atomic emission spectroscopy-AES and idnuktivno coupled plasma ICP-AES, adsorption of water-WAC).
